Title: Challenges and perspectives of transboundary water management in Africa (thematic session for Africa)
8.OBJECTIVE
Share concrete experiences to promote dialogue and cooperation in management of transboundary waters

1-Senegal River Development Organization (OMVS) : The institutional and political process towards the “Senegal River Water Charter” 2-Centre for Environment & Development for the Arab Region & Europe (CEDARE): "Pioneering Actions in Managing the Transboundary Nubian Sandstone Groundwater Aquifer" 3- Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) : Role of River Basin Authorities in Economic Development and Poverty Alleviation 4- Zambezi River Authority (ZRA) : Targeting, monitoring and implementation 5-Niger Basin Authority (NBI) : “1 basin, 9 countries, a shared Vision” 6-Congo river Commission (CICOS)_Targeting and implemention 7-Lake Chad Basin Commission (LCBC): LCBC’s Management and strategic action plan

Two documents should be presented and adopted: 1- The status of transboundary water management in Africa 2- Recommandations

Based on the analysis of the case studies, the panelist will draw conclusions and recommendations up.
