Towards the 5th World Water Forum in Turkey

From March 19th to 24th 2007, the Kick off Meeting of the 5th World Water Forum was held, in Istanbul, Turkey.

Roundtables were carried out to discuss the topics and key processes of the 5th World Water Forum. The processes of the forum have several components: political, communication, regional and thematic.

The overarching theme of the 5th Forum is “Bridging Divides for Water” and expresses the necessity of developed and developing countries to work together in the solution of the world water crisis.

During the event the Mexican contributions were presented to the world as a result of the Forum in our country. The National Water Commission of Mexico confirmed that will continue participating and supporting the process of the World Water Forum.

In addition, the first preparatory regional meeting of the 5th Forum, was carried out in Antalya, Turkey from 22nd to 24th March 2007 “International Congress on River Basin Management”. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey took part in the Opening Ceremony and during the Congress some experts from around the world participated.
